I was drawn to Impactive because I believe we need more technology like this in our world. At a time when people are becoming increasingly distrustful of and distant from systems of government, Impactive represents a vision of all people in society organizing and mobilizing for change as part of civic movements. I knew I wanted to work at a social impact organization this summer to help do good in the world, and was super lucky to be able to join Impactive with the support of TechShift.

At my partner organization, Setty & Associates, I worked on the team developing Syyclops. The Syyclops app aims to harness the knowledge of industry-leading engineers, combine it with the power of always-on computing and artificial intelligence, and dramatically drive down excess energy usage–all without anyone noticing.

I applied to the TechShift Fellowship where I was paired with Goodwill and Requirements Engineering Cares (RE Cares) to work on gang and gun violence prevention among youths in Southbend, Indiana.

This summer, I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with the Overbrook School for the Blind in conducting human computer interaction research centered around assistive technologies’ impact on the education of blind/low vision students and was a TechShift fellow.

Hi everyone, my name is Ceciel and I am a junior undergrad at the University of Michigan. This summer, I worked with Redford Brightmoor Initiative (RBI) as a TechShift fellow revamping their online presence.

With the support of Techshift’s Summer Fellowship Program, I worked with Johanna Okerlund, a MIDAS fellow at the University of Michigan, and a group of Michigan undergraduate students to reimagine what an undergraduate computer science curriculum could look like.
